Google HTC Nexus (2016) release date near as device spotted on benchmark website; to carry Android 7.0?

Google is planning to release two new versions of their Nexus flagship and HTC is said to be the next manufacturer. And while details about the upcoming phones have not been confirmed yet, that doesn't stop onlookers from getting information regarding them. In fact, reports suggest that one of the devices may have leaked online already.
A mystery Google Nexus smartphone has been listed on benchmarking site Geekbench. It is codenamed as "Google Marlin," which has been previously linked to the rumored HTC Nexus M1. As detailed in the site, the smartphone will carry the latest operating system of Google, the Android 7.0 Nougat, out-of-the-box.
It's also said that it will be equipped under the hood with a quad-core Qualcomm processor running at 1.59GHz. The predicted chipset to be placed is the Snapdragon 820 paired with 4 GB of RAM. The specs revealed are noted to be in line with the device's previous leak showing that the purported smartphone will have a Quad HD touchscreen with AMOLED technology, a 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, and storage options of 32 GB and 128 GB.
Moreover, GSM Arena detailed that the HTC Nexus (2016) device will feature a fingerprint scanner at the back and a 3,450mAh battery pack. There's also a USB Type C port, Bluetooth 4.2 and bottom speakers. It's not known yet whether it will be getting a microSD card slot or not. A unibody for the smartphone is also expected.
The other variant for the new Nexus device is codenamed Sailfish and it's expected to be pre-installed with the Android Nougat as well. Rumors also have it that the Sailfish and the Marlin will have similarities, although the latter may provide better resolution because it is larger compared to the former.
Given that none of the details has been officially announced yet, it's best to take these reports with a pinch of salt.
