'Gotham' season 3 updates: Show to delve deeply into the Court of Owls

The end of the second season of "Gotham" teased the arrival of the more recently created Batman adversary, The Court of Owls. Created five years ago by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, the Court of Owls refers to a group of individuals who wear white owl-like masks and work under the leadership of The Talon.
Appearing back in "Batman #5," the Court of Owls is an organized crime syndicate that is said to have existed in Gotham since the colonial times. The group is part of DC's New 52 reboot, and has proven to be a popular new adversary for the Caped Crusader.
The Court is said to have kidnapped child performers from circuses and brainwash and train them to be skilled assassins referred to as "Talons." The Talons are nearly unkillable, and "sleep" deep within the inner sanctum of the court until they are summoned for missions. The Talons can be electrocuted, dismembered, and even stabbed in the skull, and they would not yield to death. The only way to stop one would either be to expose one to extreme cold, which will shut down their body and return them to their "sleep" state, or to administer a poison specifically developed by the Court themselves.
Fans can see the Talon origin almost similar to Batman's first Robin, Dick Grayson. Dick was a member of a family of circus performers, and when his parents tragically died, Bruce Wayne took him in and trained him to be his sidekick, Robin.
Since the "Gotham" series has its own canon, it will be interesting to see how The Court of Owls will play out. According to International Business Times, other Batman villains like the undead Solomon Grundy and mind-control master The Mad Hatter will make their appearance in the third season, along with some other villains.
"Gotham" season 3 will premiere Sept. 19 on FOX.
