According to reports, "Prison Break" star Robert Knepper will be playing a recurring role in "Homeland" season 6. He will portray the character named General Jamie McClendon of the Department of Defense. He will be the chosen representative who will be doing the briefing to new President-elect Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) and her team.

More of Knepper's role will be explored soon. In the meantime, spoilers revealed that the upcoming sixth installment will have Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) alive. Fans initially thought he was going to be killed off, but executive producer Alex Gansa spilled that Peter will recover from the major stroke although he will still need to be careful.

A short time jump will also happen. "Homeland" season 6 will pick up a few months after the events of the season 5 finale, and it will kick off during the months between the U.S. election and the Presidential inauguration. Followers of the show will get to know more about President Keane around this time.

Aside from Peter's recovery, the new season will have Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) and Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) still at odds with each other. Although, it cannot be denied that the two share an unbreakable bond. But since Carrie is no longer accepting the offer of Saul to return to the CIA, the two will be treading different directions.

Fans will have to savor every episode that the show will air as Gansa said that it will be closing its doors after season 8. "Homeland" season 6 will premiere on Jan. 15, 2017.
