iMac 2016 release date, specs news: To be unveiled in separate October event? Resellers offer big discounts on current iMac
The iMac 2016 is believed to be one of the products Apple is set to unveil this fall. However, new reports say it won't be part of the lineup in the company's September event.
The new iteration of the 2016 version of iMac desktop computer will allegedly be released in another event set for October, where it will reportedly keep the spotlight to itself.
This purported October affair has not been confirmed yet, but considering that Apple had an event last year and in 2014 on the said month for the reveal of the current-generation iMac, an October reveal for the iMac 2016 might happen after all.

Another reason the iMac 2016 is expected to be out soon is because of the big discounts on the price of the current iMac models.
As it is with new versions of products, companies usually put a fat discount on the price of previous iterations of devices before a new version comes out. Such might be the case with the iMac 2016.
Apple-authorized resellers B&H and Adorama are offering the current iMac model with a $100 to a whopping $220 discount. Users outside New York could avail for price markdowns from $267 to $384 as the said retailers do not collect sales tax for purchases in the said city.
Although this generous price cuts may seem to be Apple's preparation for the upcoming iMac 2016, Apple Insider says it is more of taking advantage of the shopping spree for the new school year.
With regards to the specs, the iMac 2016 is expected to be powered by the upcoming Intel Kaby Lake processor, the successor of the Intel Sky Lake.
Apple is reportedly pairing the heavyweight of a chip with an AMD graphics card based on the Polaris 10 architecture with 16nm FinFET production process, the latest from the company.
With that combination, the iMac 2016 will make for a breathtaking desktop. Other specs and features of the iMac 2016, as per the rumor mill, include a Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 ports.
