'Injustice 2' release date, characters news: Expected 2017; additional characters on the way

Upcoming fighting video game "Injustice 2" is still months away from its actual release date. But even so, developer NetherRealm Studios has already slowly revealed some updates about the game, making several fans more excited than ever. But when will the game be available?

According to a report, "Injustice 2" is set to launch next year. The gaming company has not revealed a specific date but it's speculated to come in the earlier part of 2017. A French gaming website notes that the superhero action game could most likely drop next March.

But other rumors suggests that it will be out a little later. It could come out together with the Harley Quinn statue, which is revealed to be the first one in the DC Collectibles that will be released. IGN noted that the statue will be out in April.

Aside from the "Suicide Squad" supervillain character, "Injustice 2" promises to have a star-studded roster. So far, included in the list are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. The latest to be added is The Flash who is said to be voiced by "The Flash" TV series actor Grant Gustin. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, this is likely to happen since Stephen Amell previously lent his voice for the "Arrow" downloadable content in the first game.

Moreover, other characters reported to be part of the game include Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, Starfire, Beast Boy, Swamp Thing, Jonah Hex, Red Hood, John Constantine, King Shark, Captain Cold, Dr. Manhattan, Atrocitus and more.

Black Canary is also expected to be added in the list and if rumors are to be believed, actress Kate Cassidy, who plays as the character in the TV series "Arrow," will be the one giving the game's character a voice.

Reports also suggest that the environmental effect of the game would be improved. NetherRealm is purported to add in more objects so that gamers will have more stuff to pick up and use in battle. The loot system will also be getting more stuff and special features.
