iPhone 7 release date, specs rumors: Odd design showcased in new spy images

New images of the Apple iPhone 7 have popped up online again, showing off the design of the flagship. As previous schematics leaks suggest, it will be almost the same with the iPhone 6s, but it has some key changes.
In between the lens aperture and the flash of the camera are two holes (one slightly larger than the other) instead of just one, as suggested in the schematics leaked just days ago.
It is a mystery what this extra hole in the back of the iPhone 7 is for, although Apple Insider believes that they are cut-outs for the rear microphone and stereo recording.
The iPhone 7 leaks also indicate a design change, where Apple moved the antenna bands to the top and bottom of the handset, a change that will be most certainly welcome to those who found the antenna placement on the iPhone 6s awkward.
Meanwhile, another iPhone 7-related leak has emerged recently pertaining to three versions of flagship set to enter production. An image sent to Mobipicker reveals that Apple is working on three versions of the iPhone.
There's the standard iPhone 7, the iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone 7 Pro, which was also referred to as the iPhone 7 Plus Premium in the leak. Foxconn and Pegatron, two companies that Apple frequently collaborates with, will allegedly assemble the said smartphones.
As a caveat, the authenticity of the image is currently unverified so it is advised to take this report with a pinch of salt. Either way, there have always been rumors going around about the iPhone 7 getting multiple variants.
The most recent talk about the iPhone 7 is that it will get virtually the same design as its predecessor sans the headphone jack. The Plus version is said to come with a dual-rear camera setup and a Smart Connector.
The iPhone 7 is expected to make a splash this September.
