Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album release date news: Project delayed but is still in the pipeline

The highly-anticipated Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album will allegedly be delayed due to the rappers' individual projects that are keeping the two biggest rap artists of today from focusing on the collaboration.
Due to their popularity, Lamar and Cole are busy with their solo ventures. To begin with, the latter is intensely preparing for his big upcoming concert this June 18.
The show is called "Castle Lite Unlocks J. Cole" to be held at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa. With the concert fast approaching, the rapper is getting himself ready for the big day.
On the other hand, Lamar has a lot of side projects going on. He recently helped rapper Mistah F.A.B. with his latest album "Son of Pimp." Lamar helped out with the making of the track "Survivor." He has been busy with his partnership with Rebook as well.
Although Lamar and Cole fail to find the perfect time to collaborate, their album is still on the cards. However, fans will have to wait longer to see the masterpiece coming out of these two great minds.
Expectations about the Lamar-Cole album started in 2012 when the rappers teased their collaboration without revealing any dates on when it will drop. For multiple times, they were seen working in the recording studio together.
Lamar and Cole have been particularly silent about the project since then. But a year later, Cole revealed that the album is "still happening" although he admitted that they haven't been in the studio as much.
However, he remained adamant that they will get the long-awaited album done. "We'll finish that. It's incredible. It's like working with my little cousin man," Cole said.
"It's dope. There's not a lot of fronting involved with either of us. I feel like that's the new wave," the "No Role Modelz" rapper continued. It is unclear if this still stands today as the rappers have gotten bigger and busier in the music world ever since.
For Top Dawg Entertainment President Dave Free, "anything's a possibility," although he told MTV News that the status of Lamar and Cole's careers may prolong the wait. It is also important to take into account the process involved in putting together tracks.
