The waiting game for the rumored collaboration album of top hip-hop artists Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole is still going on. It's been a while already since hints about the said partnership were dropped. But until now, details about it are scarce and none has been officially confirmed.

Fans are wondering now if it will ever come to realization especially since Lamar is still dealing with a lawsuit. According to reports, the album is less likely to happen this year because Lamar got dragged into a legal battle. The Top Dawg Entertainment protégé is being sued by Mattie Music Group for unauthorized use of the Bill Withers sample.

Reports detailed that Mattie Music Group sought out legal action against Lamar for not having the rights to Withers' "Don't You Want To Stay." The artist is accused of using the material for his 2009 track "I Do This," which is said to be exactly a replica of Withers' music, just with new rap and hip hop lyrics.

Aside from his lawsuit with Mattie Music Group, Lamar also has another copyright infringement case with poet Sameerah Satterthwaite, who is demanding the rapper for $200 million compensation for the use of her themes in her poem "Revolutionary Women" in his "To Pimp A Butterfly" album.

Apparently, Lamar's legal cases are putting the album with J. Cole in an impossible situation. Cole is even rumored to be working on a collaboration with Drake and dropping his planned joint project with Lamar. However, there is no confirmation to this one yet and there may still be a chance for the Lamar-Cole collaboration if Lamar's words are to be taken into heart.

Lamar said that his album with Cole is still on but it's going to be a surprise just like Beyonce's self-titled 2013 album. He said that they are going to release the album without any notice. Fans will have to watch out for it then.
