'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date, gameplay: Director teases enhanced magical point system, combat and story

"Kingdom Hearts 3" is deemed the best of the series and part of it was due to the enhancements in gameplay that that developer Square Enix integrated to the highly-anticipated title.
Game co-director Tai Yasue recently spoke to GamesBeat about the tweaks in the combat and magical point system in "Kingdom Hearts 3. He said it "worked well," but developer Square Enix wanted to do something new.
"In Kingdom Hearts 3 and 0.2 we wanted to enhance this system for the next generation. Using magical spells, we wanted the environments and enemies to react in a meaningful way," Yasue explained.
"It doesn't just explode. It lingers on afterward. If you shoot a Blizzard, for example, it creates a place where you can skate on the ground. We wanted the magic to dynamically interact with the environments," he explained.
Yasue kept his cards close to his chest throughout the interview in terms of the specifics about "Kingdom Hearts 3," saying that there will be a perfect time to reveal everything.
This is also why "Kingdom Hearts 3" was not much of a presence in this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 and why the focus was on "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue.
However, Yasue opened up about the pressure of delivering in "Kingdom Hearts 3" story-wise. "There's a lot of strings and a lot of strands in the previous Kingdom Hearts. They all come together," he said.
"Right now we're depicting the Dark Seeker saga, with Xehanort and his group that Sora's battling. They and the other Keyblade masters will have a sort of showdown. And so I think all the — everything is going to come together at the conclusion of the Dark Seeker saga in part 3," he explained.
As for the worlds to expect in "Kingdom Hearts 3," Yasue implied that "Final Fantasy" worlds won't be featured in. He gave n further hint on which realms will actually be in the game.
"Kingdom Hearts 3" is expected to be released sometime next year.
