Actor Nick Zano, known for appearing in TV shows such as "Minority Report" and "2 Broke Girls," is joining the cast of The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 as a series regular.

Beginning in season 2, Zano will be taking on the role of Nate Heywood a.k.a. Citizen Steel, Deadline reported.

In the DC Comics, Nathan "Nate" Heywood is the grandson of Henry Heywood, who once carried the mantel of Steel/Commander Steel. That mantle was passed on to Henry's grandson, Hank Heywood III, a member of the Justice League, before it became Nate's.

Before he became a superhero, Nate was a star athlete who was forced to retire following an injury that shattered his kneecap and cost him one of his legs. After his leg was amputated, Nate became hooked on painkillers.

Later, Nate was turned into a superhero made of "living steel." He didn't want to be known as Commander Steel and was thus named Citizen Steel instead.

Later still, the young Heywood became a member of the Justice Society of America.

It is not known whether or not the producers of "Legends of Tomorrow" will have Nate following in his grandfather's footsteps, but given that the show is about a group of superheroes, it may be safe to assume that the character will be joining the Legends in their fight against the bad guys.

Speaking of bad guys, with Vandal Savage dead, the Legends of Tomorrow will most certainly be facing a new villain in the show's sophomore season. But while the show's cast members are still in the dark about who this new villain is, they recently spoke about the direction "Legends of Tomorrow" will be taking when it returns later this year.

In an interview with DC All Access, Caity Lotz, who plays Sara Lance/White Canary, said: "There really is gonna be a big shakeup of everything for Season 2. It's gonna be a little bit of a different show, which I'm excited to see where they're gonna go with it."

"It might be more like on the show 'Flash' and 'Arrow' where we have a couple smaller villains that come in," Brandon Routh, who plays The Atom, said. "There will be a season-long nemesis, but he'll come and go throughout the season, so we don't always have to be focused solely on that."

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 returns to The CW in the fall.
