'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 spoilers, cast news 2016: Matthew MacCaull to play Commander Steel

"Legends of Tomorrow" has found an actor who will play DC Comics character Commander Steel. Fans may already know by now that the superhero series is going to introduce the Justice Society of America and that includes the first "indestructible man."
As detailed in a report by Entertainment Weekly, DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" will welcome "iZombie" alum Matthew MacCaull to the series to play as Henry Heywood, Sr., also known as Commander Steel. Not a lot of details is known about the character yet as they are still being kept under wraps. However, it's revealed that the character is the grandfather of Dr. Nate Heywood who will be played by "Minority Report" alum Nick Zano.
Zano will portray the role of Nate's superhero alter ego Citizen Steel. A report noted that it's still to be known if Nate will follow his grandfather's footstep of becoming a hero. However, in the comics, Citizen Steel is part of the Justice League of America.
In other news, fans can expect "Legends of Tomorrow" to be more serious when it returns to the small screen for its second season. Executive producer Phil Klemmer revealed this information during the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel.
He also said that the second installment of the series will have more mysteries. There will also be more villains who are collectively known as the Legion of Doom. Comprised of Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher), The Dark Archer (John Barrowman) and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), the Legion of Doom is bound to bring more evil and trouble to the show.
Maisie Richardson-Seller is also said to be coming to the show as Vixen. However, she will not portray Mari McCabe, the incarnation of Vixen who appeared in "Arrow" last year, but she will play Mari's grandmother, Amaya Jiwe, who took the helm of Vixen before Mari did. Amaya is also a member of the Justice Society of America.
The second season of DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
