'Metal Gear Survive' release date news: Gets a new action-packed trailer

With Hideo Kojima working on "Death Stranding" with Norman Reedus, fans were not expecting Konami to pump out another game in the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise so soon. A new trailer for "Metal Gear Survive" has been released, and it looks to be one action-packed pleaser.
According to Game Tyrant, the game's timeline will be set right after the events of "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes." The story is said to focus on the soldiers that Boss and Ocelot left behind when they escaped. It turns out the people were transported into a different dimension where they have to go up against these crystal zombie-type creatures and possibly Metal Gear.
The Guardian reports that fans are not happy with this upcoming game, given the bitter separation of Kojima and Konami. The last "Metal Gear" game, "The Phantom Pain," was said to be Kojima's grand finale to the franchise, and it marked the end of his relationship with the game publisher.
Some fans are even saying that the story of "Metal Gear Survive" is some sort of metaphor for "Metal Gear" after Kojima's departure. It's about a band of individuals left behind to pick up the pieces after their boss leaves them; very much like the developers of this game who have to find a way to make the franchise survive without their former head, Kojima.
The game is said to focus on an online gameplay mechanic for a co-op team of up to four players. Many weapons are featured in the trailer such as spears, pipes, and arrows; and some speculate that the game will allow players to craft their own different types of weapons.
After the success of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," fans weren't expecting to get a new "Metal Gear" game so soon — especially after the departure of Kojima.
"Metal Gear Survive" is set to be released in 2017.
