Microsoft Surface Phone release date: 2017 launch happening? Flagship will reportedly be a business phone

The Microsoft Surface Phone is one of the most talked about future smartphone releases. Despite its manufacturer's silence about the device, information about it continues to emerge.
Rumor has it that the flagship smartphone will be delayed so that Microsoft can wait for the Redstone 2 for Windows 10 to be released. With this upgrade, more features can be integrated to the device.
In the past, Microsoft has been vocal about putting smartphone projects on the backburner to focus on other products like its Surface Pro line and the rumored Surface All-in-One personal computer (PC).
This would also explain why the Microsoft Surface Phone won't be available sooner than fans apart from Microsoft's efforts to wait for more powerful technology.
If the rumors are anything to go by, Microsoft has ambitious plans for the Surface Phone. Storage-wise, it is expected to come with three variants.
The entry-level model will reportedly have 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, which is already top-tier to some flagships. Higher than that is the version with 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
The biggest Microsoft Surface Phone version that the company will reportedly have on offer comes with a whopping 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
Previous rumors hint that it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor and will sport a 5.7-inch 2K display.
To make the Microsoft Surface Phone a true member of the Surface family, Microsoft is allegedly planning to make it a two-in-one device with a built-in flip keyboard.
Despite these beastly set of specs, the Microsoft Surface Phone will reportedly target business users, which is not a shock to many who are familiar with the company's approach.
Apart from the Microsoft Surface Phone, the company based in Redmond is also believed to be working on an AIO PC set for release later this year.
