Moto E 2016 release date, specs news 2016: Smartphone now Bluetooth-ready, launch imminent?

The rumor mills have been silent about the Moto E 2016 lately, but not until it made its way to Bluetooth certification. The handset has once again popped up online, reminding users it is still coming soon.
The tech world was first alerted to the existence of the third-generation Moto E (2016) when a pair of Lenovo devices with model numbers XT1700 and XT1706 stopped by GFX Bench.
For those who do not know, Lenovo acquired Motorola two years ago, which granted the Beijing-based company its mobile products including the Moto E. Android Authority adds that the rumored specs believed to be of the Moto E 2016 match the range the said mobile lineup has.
The GF Bench visit hints that Lenovo and Motorola are still working on the new Moto E even though it hasn't been heard of for months ever since it was first leaked.
The Moto E 2016, according to the initial leak, will sport a 5-inch High Definition (HD) display and will be powered by the MediaTek MT6735P processor. It will come with 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage.
The third-generation Moto E (2016) will feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter paired with a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Lastly, the smartphone will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed.
The specs appear to be similar to the ones on the Moto G4 Play except for the MediaTek processor. Moto devices always went for Qualcomm chipsets, but might have changed since the acquisition.
However, it is being said that, based on the leaked specs, it will be more like a variant of the Moto G4 Play rather than a new Moto E smartphone.
With regards to the release date, Moto E (2016) is already four months overdue, if Motorola was planning a yearly release. The second-gen came out February last year.
Since the Moto E 2016 is being certified, the device might be close to showing itself in all its glory.
