New 'God of War' release date, news, plot updates: Game's launch schedule still unannounced; timeline set years after 'God of War III'

A new "God of War" game has been announced, but there is still no release date set for the game. Meanwhile, Sony Santa Monica creative director shared a few features, including the storyline of the new "God of War."
It was announced at Sony's E3 Press conference last June 2016 that a remastered "God of War" is in the works, according to Gamespot. After the conference, Sony Santa Monica creative director Cory Barlog shared during an interview with YouTube Live at E3 what to expect with the new "God of War" game.
Barlog confirmed that the game's timeline is set many years after "God of War III" and that Kratos will be much older. Unlike in previous installments, Kratos will be the gamer's character all throughout the new "God of War."
"The main thing we're doing is we're reimagining the gameplay, kind of tearing it down, rebuilding it from scratch, and continuing the storyline. We're carrying the mythology we've created with 'God of War' and bringing it into Norse mythology," explained Barlog.
Barlog added that the new "God of War" will not be open world and that it will provide "a much more intimate experience, a much more up close, and a much more player-controlled experience" through the camera angle.
It has been almost a year since the new "God of War" was announced, but a release date is still not set.
Fans have been expressing their disappointment and impatience for the new game on Twitter, and Barlog was quick to reply regarding where the remastered "God of War" is already at in development.
"Just finished first full play through with the leads. very exciting milestone for us!" Barlog responded.
Attack of The Fanboy from Twitter also shared a photo showing Kratos and his son engaged in a hunt, indicating that the game has indeed reached an exciting milestone in development.
The new "God of War" is expected to be released in March 2018.
