'Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom' release date news 2016: Still no launch date since its announcement
"Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom" has not had any release date nor other updates since its announcement last year. The only information that fans know about the upcoming game is that it is PlayStation 4 exclusive and it will feature characters different from the first game.

The first "Ni no Kuni" game was "Ni no Kuni: Dominion of the Dark Djinn," which was released in December 2010 exclusively for the Nintendo DS. An updated version of the game, "Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch" was exclusive to PlayStation 3. Since its release in November 2011, the game has been considered to be one of the best role-playing games for the console. The two games were developed separately, but they had similar stories. However, the games had significantly different artwork, graphics, and specification changes.
As for "Revenant Kingdom," a trailer for the game was released in December 2015. The only named characters of the game include Evan, the Boy King, who is said to be the game's main character, and Roland, a strange visitor from another world. After an attack on his kingdom, Evan must find a way to reclaim it. Eventually he will need to make a realm that everyone can live in together.
The art may seem familiar to those who've seen Studio Ghibli films, as the studio had been featured prominently back in previous games. In the game's trailer, however, no mention of Ghibli has been found.
Gameplay wise, there has been no footage revealed, but fans of the first game remember a turn-based fighting mechanic with a little real-time movement. A previous report from The BitBag stated that there will be changes to the game, but no news yet on whether or not they are scrapping the fighting mechanic for another one.
There's still no word yet on when the game is going to be released. Nonetheless, a trailer, no matter how old, indicates that some elements of "Revenant Kingdom" have already been developed, and fans can only patiently wait until the studio announces its release date.
