'Orange is the New Black' Season 4 plot news: Daya's unexpected season 4 finale moment

Dascha Polanco, who plays Daya on the hit Netflix comedy-drama series "Orange is the New Black," has recently sat down to talk about Daya and what fans can expect from her character in the next season.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Polanco said that Daya is in "a dark place" as of now, and the initially non-violent inmate is about to do things that nobody has ever suspected of her.
"The boiling point has tipped over . . . At this point, Daya is thinking, 'F— everyone. I'm going for it,'" the 33-year-old actress shared.
After an entire season of abuse from the new guards, which led to Poussey's (Samira Wiley) death, fans would think that Daya has had enough. When Daya was found pointing a gun at the guards during the season 4 finale, the scene cut immediately to Poussey before the audience could see Daya firing the gun.
Daya has gone through a lot of changes since her introduction in the first season. Initially imprisoned with her mother (Elizabeth Rodriguez), Daya always had someone to go to in Litchfield. Over the past seasons, she had been impregnated and left by her ex, CO Bennet (Matt McGorry), her baby had been taken away from her, and now with her mother gone, Daya is left completely alone.
"She just keeps getting poked: Now her mom is not there and her daughter is gone. She's thinking, 'I'm tired, I'm frustrated and I don't know what the hell to do. I've been in love — I feel like it was an enigma — and now I'm over it and trying to break through,'" said Polanco.
She went on to say that Daya is undergoing postpartum depression, and that currently, her character is very "fragile and sensitive." Polanco is still hopeful about her character, saying that Daya is a "hopeless romantic" and the possible return of Bennett might be the push she needs to get out of her depression.
"Orange is the New Black" season 4 is currently streaming on Netflix, but binge-watching fans can't wait to find out what happens in "OITNB" next year.
