'Pokémon Go' problems news 2016: Developers Niantic remove legendary Pokémon from players' accounts

Some "Pokémon Go" players are in for a disappointment because game developer Niantic has removed the Legendary Pokémon from the accounts of the people who have caught it — all in the name of fairness.

According to Gamespot, the legendary Pokémon made it into the game by accident, and Niantic had rectified the "problem." The legendary Pokémon in question is the ice bird Articuno which was caught with no cheats or technical loopholes. Other players pushed cheating accusations towards the player who caught it, but there were no traces found of that ever happening. The player stumbled across the Articuno due to an in-game accident.

Niantic released a statement about the accident saying, "We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokémon got into a few accounts when they shouldn't have." The studio then added, "To preserve the game's integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokémon from the Trainers' accounts."

There have also been attempts made to know if Niantic has at least given any sort of compensation to the player who lost the Articuno that he caught, but no word has come up yet.

Other "Pokémon Go" gamers have been outraged by Niantic's actions and think that the player should have been allowed to keep the Articuno that he caught. They say that the point of the Legendary Pokémon was that they were rare, and the fact that it was caught as an accident makes the Articuno all the more special.

Some speculate that players will be allowed to catch legendary Pokémon during seasonal events that will soon be provided by the developers. The announcement of the game had a clip of a crowd of people going up against a Mewtwo together, so players can expect an event like that to happen at some point in the future.

"Pokémon Go" is available for both Android and iOS devices in select countries.
