'Pokemon GO' hacks, tips 2016: Niantic bans users of bots; alternative tricks available

Playing "Pokémon GO" isn't as easy as it looks. It involves patience, skills and knowledge to get to higher level and be "the very best like no one ever was." That is why when cheats and hacks in the form of bots surfaced, many took the bait. But game developer Niantic wants everything to be fair, so they have taken action to prevent cheating from happening.

According to reports, several players hacked their way through the game by utilizing software like Necrobot. Through this mod, they are able to get help in catching Pokémon as well as in hatching eggs in a shorter period of time. Aside from that, the bot automatically evolved the monsters.

The bot also permitted gamers to spoof their GPS to appear as if they are anywhere in the world. Many of these users take advantage of this cheating tool so that they don't have to leave the house. Apparently, Niantic sees it as defeating the whole purpose of "Pokémon GO."

The cheat also created a negative impact on gamers who are trying to play fairly. When a gamer makes use of a bot, they can easily overpower honest gamers and claim gyms with ridiculously high-level Pokémon. This makes it hard for those who are putting real effort as they will have difficulty when in battle

To address this issue, Niantic has banned those who have used the bot. Support for the bot developers has also ceased following the action made by the gaming company. As seen in the Necrobot Github page, a very clear message can be read saying: "Due to legal action being started against other bot creators/devs, the project development will be stopped."

The player ban serves as a warning to those who want to use cheats in order to get ahead in the game. If they really want to play the game in an easier way, there are alternatives that do not involve the use of software available. For instance, as detailed in a report, gamers can speed up hatching process by strapping the smartphone into a fan.
