'Pokemon GO' problems, bugs update 2016: Petition demands that Niantic fix 'Pokemon GO' bugs; 'PokeDates' launches

While "Pokemon GO" has become so popular that it is now reportedly the biggest app in history, players of the location-based augmented reality mobile game are not without complaints.

The addictive game, which has caused stampedes, vehicular accidents, and even shooting incidents, is plagued by server crashes — some intentional and some not. Players' gaming experiences have also been hampered by various bugs, which are prevalent despite several app updates.

These bugs and crashes have annoyed "Pokemon GO" players so much that one of them, Jessica Johnson of Rochester, Pennsylvania, has started a petition on Change.org asking Niantic Labs to address the issues that are ruining "Pokemon GO" players' fun.

"Due to all these problems, players are unable to enjoy the game and feel they are wasting their money due to the game being unstable," Johnson wrote. "What is more frustrating is the complete and total lack of customer service with Niantic."

Johnson's petition asks that Niantic halt the game's release in other countries until it creates more server space for the high traffic volume that the releases cause. It also asks the game's developer to beef up its customer support and IT staffs and to give current "Pokemon GO" players 50 PokeBalls, 40 PokeCoins, two 10k eggs, and a free backpack source upgrade "as a thank you for their support."

As of writing, the petition is only 110 signatures away from its 1,000-signature goal.

Meanwhile, the first "Pokemon GO" dating service, called "PokeDates," has launched.

According to The Verge, the service is built on an existing dating site called Project Fixup.

In a press statement, Project Fixup's "Chief Fixup Officer" Dank Korenevsky said that the service will allow users to find the perfect partner while playing "Pokemon GO."

"Browsing, swiping, messaging back-and-forth starts as fun and exciting and turns into a huge time-suck," he said. "PokeDates and Project Fixup give people their time back and turns online dating into offline dating."
