The update in "Pokemon Go" that fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. The game is now more realistic than ever after Niantic added the Buddy Pokemon system. With this new update, players can now walk around with a Pokemon monster just like how it is in the animated series.

According to reports, the new system has already rolled out all over the world. This now allows players to pick a Pokemon that they want to appear alongside their avatar on their profile screen. But aside from having just a buddy, gamers will also be rewarded with candy as they walk together. The candies gained will then be used to power up or evolve the Pokemon.

Tips from CNET detailed that trainers should pick their Pokemon buddy wisely. It's more practical to choose one that they will actually need candy for because if they pick a character that is maxed out in the power up area and cannot be evolved, they wouldn't really require the candy anymore.

It is said that it's better to go walking around with Pokemon that only requires a few more candy in order to evolve. The same principle follows in getting candy from hatching eggs. Players will need to keep their screen open and in the foreground while walking.

And as already revealed, each Pokemon is assigned to a corresponding distance. Once the player hits the required number of kilometers, that's the only time that they can get candy. Changing buddies is also allowed in the new system.

But trainers must take note that they shouldn't change buddies abruptly as they will lose all the progress they have made. The best time to change a buddy is after they have already received candy.

For those who want to have Pikachu as a buddy, Niantic added an Easter Egg in the game. A Reddit post detailed that they can create a closer bond with Pikachu by having the pocket monster appear on the player's shoulder in the trainer picture instead of just standing on the ground. This will happen after walking 10 kilometers with it.
