'Power' season 3 update: Creator talks about the recent plot twist

Viewers of the show "Power" were shocked to find out about Holly's death (Lucy Walters) in the hands of Tommy (Joseph Sikora). The show's creator, Courtney Kemp, talked about the character's demise that nobody saw coming.
In an interview with Deadline, Kemp said that Holly's death was "inevitable." "Then there's basic thing that the Holly, Ghost, Tommy thing was a love triangle, and it had to play out along the lines of a love triangle, which is that you can't as Holly said to Tommy last season, 'you can't have me and Ghost.' So, we've already stated it, so when Tommy's like 'I've got to warn Ghost about the hit by the Jamaicans' that Holly's put out on him and when he won't pull the trigger himself to kill Ghost as Lobos is demanding, it's inevitable what happened to Holly tonight," said Kemp.
Walters also talked about what happened to her character on the show. In an interview with TV Line, Walters said that she was actually relieved to see that her character died. She finds the experience to be "paradoxically liberating." She understands that Holly is not supposed to be a likeable character. She went on to say that she thought Holly was supposed to be the hot bombshell cocktail girl (which she didn't turn out to be). She decided to hold nothing back because she knows the viewers would hate the character eventually.
Things are looking to shake up as Ghost comes back to see the mayhem that took place in his absence. Ghost has regained his strength, and with Tommy by his side, Kanan (50 Cent) could be in real trouble. Looks like it won't be so easy to take down the former drug lord and his empire.
The third season of "Power" is currently airing on Starz every Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT.
