'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date news 2016: No presence at E3, but game will be announced soon

Fans have been expecting an update on the "Grand Theft Auto"-inspired open-world western shooting video game "Red Dead Redemption 2" during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) held in the middle of June. Their expectations were met with disappointment, however, as it was reported that Sony pulled out any new material to showcase because of the shootings in Orlando at the time.
According to Movie News Guide, the trailer for "Red Dead Redemption 2" features a violent massacre in a saloon where a lone character starts shooting everyone in the area. Considering how this could prove to be a tad insensitive given the Orlando shootings, the game producers decided to change their announcement schedule for "Read Dead Redemption 2."
A statement from Sony Third Party Relations and Developer Technology Group Vice President Adam Boyes, however, states that it was not the company's intent to show any material from the Rockstar game at E3 in the first place. Despite its delay, however, chances are the game will still push through, and there is a possibility that there will be a multiplayer mode.
Rumors have been saying that "Read Dead Redemption 2" will be titled "Red Dead Redemption: Legends of the West," and will have Irish and Seth as the main characters, out to find hidden treasure. There will also be a third character introduced when players use "gang mode."
Despite the delay of its announcement, dozens of leaks on the game's development have been finding their way online, and even talks of the first game getting remastered is in the works.
No release date has been confirmed yet, but Rockstar CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated that the company comes out with only one launch per year. If that's the case, then fans can expect "Red Dead Redemption 2" to come out before the end of the year, seeing as it has been in development for over three years.
