'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date news 2016: Xbox One Backward Compatibility and Nintendo NX launch planned after E3 launch canceled?

It is being said that "Red Dead Redemption 2" was supposed to be at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 but was allegedly pulled from the convention.

The presentation of the "Red Dead Redemption" sequel was reportedly canceled because it featured scenes that resemble the recent Orlando shooting, which is regarded the worst in the history of America.

PlayStation vice president of third party relations and developer technology group Adam Boyes has since clarified on Twitter that "Red Dead Redemption 2" wasn't included in the E3 in the first place.

Despite this, reports insist that "Red Dead Redemption 2" was originally planned for an E3 reveal. After all, there were already a whole lot of reports and leaks about its nearing release.

Assuming it was only pulled from the event, it is a mystery why developer Rockstar Games is reportedly looking into Xbox One Backward Compatibility for the original "Red Dead Redemption" game instead.

The game is touted to be one of the most requested games to be brought into Xbox One Backward Compatibility. However, Microsoft claims that there are licensing issues yet to be settled to bring the game over.

It has also been reported in the past that a remastered version of the original game will come alongside "Red Dead Redemption 2" at E3, but it appears unlikely for now.

So far, Rockstar or its parent company Take-Two Interactive is silent about "Red Dead Redemption 2," but the latter did speak about the possibility of bringing the franchise to the Nintendo NX.

"It could be very exciting. You never want to count Nintendo out. They go quiet for a while and then they come to market and do something really exciting," Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told The Street.

"We are very interested and watching closely the development of what Nintendo plans to do next," he continued.

Even though the possibility of a "Red Dead Redemption 2" launch is as bleak as it was before E3, reports say that a 2017 release is still likely.
