'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date: Original confirmed for Xbox One Backward Compatibility

It turns out that developer Rockstar had no plans for "Red Dead Redemption 2" at least in time for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016. A remastered version of the original may not be on the table as well.
It was just announced that the first "Red Dead Redemption" installment is getting the Xbox One Backward Compatibility treatment this week Friday, July 8.
Earlier this year, the game was accidentally made available for Xbox One Backward Compatibility for a short amount of time due to a testing error.
Released in 2010, "Red Dead Redemption" is one of the titles fans hope to see playable in the current-generation Microsoft console. Rockstar is now ready to fulfill the wishes of "Red Dead" fans.
Prior to this good news, there were rumors that a remastered version of the game will be available on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will also become official.
All this was expected to happen at E3, which obviously did not come to pass. It was suspected that Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive pulled the plug on the "Red Dead Redemption 2" showing in the last-minute.
However, Adam Boyles, vice president of Third Party Relations at Sony, has since clarified on Twitter that there were no changes made in their E3 presentation.
Some fans refuse to believe this because there were a lot "Red Dead Redemption 2" leaks that popped up prior to the convention. Although leaks aren't always accurate, they are almost always indicators of what's coming.
It remains a mystery if "Red Dead Redemption 2" will ever see the light of day, but Take-Two has already said that they consider the "Red Dead" franchise a "permanent" one so a sequel should be down the line.
However, for now, the Xbox One users are the only ones who get to play an enhanced version of "Red Dead Redemption."
Some PS4 users aren't happy about the game only in the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program. It is unknown if Rockstar has plans to bring it at some point in the console.
