The mystery of the dummy finger seen in the Beginning Hour demo of "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" might have been solved when Capcom released the Midnight update last weekend.

The detached finger that appears to belong to a mannequin was seen at the "Resident Evil 7" trial demo that was released in June 2016. While the finger might just be a random item within the game, fans of the video game franchise believe that there could be some reasons why the item was featured in the demo in the first place.

But the secret about the mysterious dummy finger might have been decoded by a dedicated Reddit user who goes by the name BruhTheShark after the new Midnight update for the demo arrived on the PlayStation Store. The Redditor posted a step-by-step guide to decipher the puzzle.

Some of the steps will require players to begin a fresh run before inserting a fuse and getting the chain cutter and VHS, Then the players must watch the video that was presented in the VHS tape and get hold of the lockpick to get the Axe before getting the backdoor key that will unlock the slot that says "Do Not Open."

The instructions also required players to grab a journal in the basement then get the finger from the drawer along the hallway leading to the attic, where they can start reading the message written in the journal. Players can use the dummy finger to point at several objects to be able to solve the mystery.

To simplify the instructions in decoding the mystery of the dummy finger, players can watch the 38-minute video uploaded by YouTube user SwingPoynt based on the steps shared by BruhTheShark on Reddit.

Capcom is scheduled to release "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Jan. 24, 2017. But players who will use Xbox One for the game can finally get the Beginning Hour demo on Dec. 9, while those who will use PC will get the demo on Dec. 19.
