'Rick and Morty' spoilers news 2016: gets an improvised mini-episode from creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland

The wait for the third season of Adult Swim's highly successful "Rick and Morty" can be nauseating, but fans will be happy to get a taste of the show with an improvised mini-episode that comes from the creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon.
The episode is titled "Summer's Future," and it stars Roiland voicing the title characters of Rick and Morty. Though the video is called an episode, no new animation comes with it, and it's simply a video of the voice actors talking to one another in their character's voices. The video has Roiland and Harmon joined by actress Spencer Grammer who voices Morty's older sister Summer and Ryan Riddley , who has written a few episodes himself, and has voiced some minor characters on the show.
The episode doesn't play out as well as other "Rick and Morty" episodes (on the count that it is improvised), but fans will see a lot of that trademark Roiland humor that the show has been known for. The video follows Summer as she's trying to figure out her decision regarding college, while Rick is trying to do an experiment on Morty's body.
"Rick and Morty" actually has strong roots in improvisational comedy. When the voice actors record their dialogue, they mainly get the gist of the script and improvise the recorded lines. This explains why a lot of dialogue coming from Rick and Morty is filled with stuttering speech.
One episode that showcases the creator's incredible skill at improv is the episode "Rixty Minutes" where the Smith family gets hooked up on interdimensional cable. Every commercial and teaser in that episode were improvised and then animated for the show. This tendency for improv is also the reason why the show takes some time to get animated — because all those stutters and burps can be tricky for cartoons.
The third season for "Rick and Morty" will be coming by the end of this year.
