Renowned actor Forest Whitaker has been cast in Gareth Edwards' "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," and he takes some time to talk about his character, a Clone Wars veteran named Saw Gerrera. According to Whitaker, Saw will have some similarities with the Emperor's right hand, Darth Vader.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Whitaker shares more details about his character Saw (albeit he is unsure whether he should be sharing this information). Apparently, the suit that the character is wearing in the trailer is something he has to wear in order to survive — much like how Vader's suit allows him to live as well.

When asked about his costume, Whitaker says, "This is his armored suit for flight, but also for maintenance... He's been through many conflicts and many wars, so it's also about [repairing] some of the many injuries he's had. He wears it all the time."

Saw and Vader are also extremists when it comes to succeeding in their goals. Saw has been described as a more ruthless leader when it comes to fighting against the Empire. "I don't think he's regretful. I think he really believes that what he has done is right... He understands that the universe could be destroyed and worlds could be destroyed if he doesn't succeed," said Whitaker.

Saw Gerrera is the first character in the "Clone Wars" lore to ever make a transition into the movies. He was formerly an ally to Anakin Skywalker when they fought against Separatist forces on his home planet, Onderon. His inclusion in the movie has been a cause for rejoicing for some fans, as it means that the filmmakers want to show that the television shows have importance to the lore, something that fans have been wanting to see out of the movies.

Fans can watch Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera when "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" comes out on Dec. 16, 2016.
