'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's' new trailer to premiere during the Olympic broadcast; prequel character to have a cameo

Last Star Wars Celebration, fans hoped that they would get a new trailer for Gareth Edwards' upcoming "Star Wars" prequel, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." Instead, they got a sizzle reel showing the making of the film. Though still a nice look at the movie, some were disappointed that it was not a trailer. However, Lucasfilm has announced that a new trailer will premiere during the Rio Olympics coverage this Thursday.
A TV spot announcement has even been made for the trailer, and it has some shots of different athletes intercut with new shots of the movie's lead character, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) as she tries to convince someone to join the Rebellion.
Reports saying that a character from the prequel films will be making an appearance in the movie. During an interview with The Talk, Jimmy Smits confirmed that he will reprise his role as Bail Organa in "Rogue One." "Star Wars" fans know Bail as one of the remaining senators who sided with the Jedi, and he was the very person who decided to adopt Leia and bring her to his home planet of Alderaan. Leia (Carrie Fisher) even keeps the surname Organa years after the original trilogy in "The Force Awakens" (she changed her name to "Skywalker" in the now debunked expanded universe).
Fans are happy to know that the movie doesn't completely dismiss the poorly received "Star Wars" prequels. Despite what a lot of hardcore fans say, those movies still have an active fan base. Forest Whitaker's character in the movie, Saw Guerrera, is even a character from the animated "Clone Wars" series, connecting a line between the animated series and the cinematic universe.
Gareth Edwards' "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" comes out on Dec. 16, 2016.
