Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date and update: Expected in August; To feature iris scanner?

The next Samsung Galaxy Note device has not been made official yet but the web is packed with rumors and details about it. Dubbed as the Galaxy Note 7, the device is the successor of the Galaxy Note 5. It is said to have skipped a number to sync it with the Galaxy S series. Also, the latest to hit the rumor mill is its expected release date.
According to reports, the smartphone will be launched on Aug. 2 in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York. There is no confirmation to this information though so fans must take it with a pinch of salt. But if it does appear soon, it is expected to come out with impressive specs and features.
Official details have not been released yet but rumors claim that the handset will sport a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. It's also said to be equipped under the hood with a Snapdragon 823 SoC or an equivalent Exynos chipset paired with 6 GB of RAM. It may also be coming with 64 GB of storage space which is expandable via microSD card.
Latest rumors also suggested that the Galaxy Note 7 will be replacing the standard fingerprint scanner and replace it with an iris scanner. On top of that, a 12-megapixel DualP rear camera is expected along with a 5-megapixel front camera. It will have IP68 certification, which means that it is dust-proof and can survive in up to five feet of water for 30 minutes maximum.
Reports also claimed that it will be carrying a 4,000mAh battery and will come in three color variants which include black, silver and blue. Mass production for the device is expected to begin next month. If it turns out to be true, then the August release date time frame will not be far off.
