Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date, specs news 2016: Phablet ready for August 2 event
Samsung has announced an event for Aug. 2 for the reveal the Galaxy Note 7. In the announcement on Samsung's website, the tech company has given details about the phablet.

"With added functionality of the S Pen and large screen, the Galaxy Note7 is a powerful instrument for achievement and self-expression, and is made for those who want to get the most from their phones – and their lives," the invitation reads.
"Galaxy Note7 will help people do more in work, at home and everywhere in between. We can't wait to tell you more about it," it continued.
Samsung also explained why it is Samsung Galaxy Note and not Note 6 considering that last year's model was called Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
As fans would have guessed it, Samsung wants to "unify our product portfolio" and complement the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in terms of naming scheme through and through.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to sport a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD (High-Definition) display with S7 Edge-style curves. It will come with the Exynos 8893 chipset as well as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 for some models.
The phablet is set to come with either 4 GB of RAM or 6 GB of RAM. The cameras will be upgraded versions of the one on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which are a 12-megapixel primary shooter and 5-megapixel selfie snapper.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will also come with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. An iris scanner is rumored to be included as well with a 3600 or 4000 mAH battery running the whole thing.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 will be unveiled at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. EDT in New York (12 p.m. at Rio de Janeiro and 4 p.m. in London).
Prior to these unveiling, live images of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 were leaked by Dutch tech site Techtastic.
