Samsung rumored to be working on a clamshell smartphone codenamed Veyron

Samsung is going back in time by developing a clamshell mobile device. It's not going to be like the old flip phones though as it will be a smart one.
According to Android Headlines, the South Korean tech giant is working on a successor for the fliphone smartphone SM-W2016, which was released last year. The upcoming smartphone in a clamshell form-factor is said to be codenamed as Veyron. There are no official details straight from Samsung yet but there are speculations on what it will be coming along with.
As detailed by GSM Arena, the device will be coming with an updated chipset. Last year's model came with the Exynos 7420. The new device is said to be equipped with the Exynos 8990, which is the same processor used in the Galaxy S7. This also leads to the speculation that the device will be featuring cameras that are similar with the Galaxy S7. The primary camera is 12-megapixels while the front one will be 5-megapixels.
But that's not the only specs that will be copied from the Galaxy S7. Rumors say that it will be sporting the same design as seen on the latest device in the S series, which means that it will have a glass and metal build. Reports also claim that the new clamshell will have a dual 3.9-inch HD Super AMOLED display.
There is no word yet about which Android operating system it will be using, but chances are it will be equipped with the latest one considering it is trying to emulate the Galaxy S7. Phones Review stated that it's also still not known whether the handset will be water-resistant. If Samsung decides to make it waterproof as well, the Samsung Veyron handset is expected to be a very interesting smartphone.
With regard to the availability, the new clamshell is said to hit retail stores in China only. The SM-W2016 smartphone never got out of China so there's a possibility that the successor will have the same fate. But since none is official yet, it's best to take these reports with a grain of salt.
