"Scream Queens" season 2 cast members have recently opened up about the next installment of Fox's hit horror comedy series.

Previous reports already indicated that the upcoming season will take place in a hospital, which offers a naturally scarier vibe than the college setting of the first season. Along with this, fans can expect a much darker tone and plotline from season 2, as hinted by some of the "Scream Queens" main players.

"I think it'll be dark. I think it's going to be very dark," Jamie Lee Curtis told E! News during Fox's Upfront party in New York City last week. "It's in a hospital, [there's] a lot of darkness in hospitals — dark hallways, scary rooms, sharp objects, a lot of blood, disinfectants."

Curtis is set to reprise her role as Dean Munsch in "Scream Queens" season 2. Spoiler reports say that following the series of murders in the first season, Dean will leave her job at Wallace University to travel the world and eventually become a best-selling author. From her earnings, she will then buy a mental hospital where Emma Roberts' character, Chanel Oberlin and the other Kappa Kappa Tau (KKT) sorority sisters, a.k.a. The Chanels, will be reunited.

Lea Michele, who plays Hester Ulrich, one of the Red Devil killers, expressed her excitement for the direction the show is going and for her character's arc in the next season.

"I don't know how I can get any darker than I did in season one but hey, whatever Ryan Murphy wants me to do I am totally down with," Michele said. "I get to be even crazier this year than I was last year, if you can believe it!"

Roberts also shared some tidbits about the second season and the new additions to the show. She revealed that they will be welcoming "some incredible new cast members" whose names will be announced soon.

"It's going to be fun, it's going to be wild," the 25-year-old actress said. "We haven't even read a script yet though, so we actually don't know what's going to happen."

As for the release date, Fox has yet to announce when "Scream Queens" season 2 will premiere, but the show is expected to return sometime this fall.
