'Star Wars Battlefront' DLC news: Played by 6 million people over the past 3 months; hope for a relaunch dies

EA Games has been getting a lot of heat ever since the release of "Star Wars Battlefront." Fans of the classic game have been complaining that so much of the original formula has been removed. And though the graphics may be top notch, the game felt a bit lacking. However, EA has reported that 6.6 million people have played the game over the course of three months, making the game an actual success.
According to Eurogamer, the "Star Wars Battlefront" community remains strong despite all the negative criticisms that the game had received. Andrew Wilson, head of EA, said that he was "overjoyed" with the success that "Battlefront" has given the company, and he remains optimistic for the future.
With this kind of success, it makes sense that EA turned down the offer to purchase the fan-made "Star Wars" game that was supposed to be more in line with the classic "Battlefront" gameplay. Lucasfilm has since stepped in on that game's production and has requested them to remove all the "Star Wars" related assets that were used. The game, though without its "Star Wars" elements, will be released for free under the name "Galaxy in Turmoil."
The report on "Star Wars Battlefront's" success may be a blow to fans of the classic games, and this may shoot down any hopes for a release that featured the classic gameplay. EA has been answering the calls from fans and is releasing downloadable content (DLC) after downloadable content which gives more locations and more heroes to use.
Last June, fans got the Bespin DLC which let them take the fight to Cloud City. This coming September, fans will be able to get the Death Star DLC which not only lets them have space battles around the Death Star but also gives the chance to control iconic characters like Chewbacca.
The "Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star" DLC comes out this September.
