"Star Wars Rebels" follows the story of Ezra, voiced by Taylor Gray, as he ventures into the world. After two seasons, it seems as though fans are getting a closer look as to how Ezra is evolving.
This season, fans have become wary of Ezra's intentions, as he continues to struggle with his identity and beliefs. As his skills become stronger, the series shows that he continues to fall into the temptations of being on the dark side. This caused some criticism from his fans, who also began theorizing on what his fate will be.
Gray was able to talk about the matter previously, sharing his excitement for the fans' reaction. He said that he is happy to see fans engaged in Ezra's growth, as it means that they are passionate about the show. Also, he explained that it is a way to know that everything means a lot to the fans of the series.
Producer of the show Dave Filoni explained that this is something they will continue exploring in the upcoming episodes of the series.
He said, "You think oh I'm getting more powerful, you don't realize you're kind of getting enslaved to that power and that idea of power and control. So Ezra's got the quick and easy answers and the challenge for him is he's had success applying those things to the betterment of the team. And even the team like Zeb is kind of like yeah, Ezra has saved us again. So you get this feeling that he's using it for good, you know. But that doesn't always work out in the end."
