'Street Fighter 5' DLC release date news: Story mode to make upcoming DLC characters playable in advance

The next "Street Fighter 5" DLC is set to bring Ibuki to the fray later by end of June, which was actually a month behind the original schedule set by developer Capcom Unity.

Capcom said that Ibuki was supposed to be in "Street Fighter 5" by the last week of May. The developer then explained that they decided to push the release to end of June "to provide the best experience possible for our players."

Ibuki comes with new abilities courtesy of the "Street Fighter 5" DLC. The most noteworthy of all is her ability to fly and stay in the air for a certain period of time. On top of that, she can throw ninja bombs at her opponents, doubling the damage.

Although it is frustrating for fans to wait another month for Ibuki, not to mention Capcom's silence about the matter, the end of June will be exciting for avid followers of the "Street Fighter 5" DLC.

Apart from Ibuki's highly-anticipated arrival, "Street Fighter 5" is getting a story mode called "A Shadow Falls" as part of a free update for the game coming later this month as well.

Set between "Street Fighter 3" and "Street Fighter 4," this story mode offers four to five hours of gameplay and gives players the chance to play all six DLC characters in advance.

So far, only two out of six characters were released— Alex and Guile. Ibuki will be out alongside the story mode, while Balrog, Urien and Juri aren't coming out to play until later this year.

With the "Street Fighter 5" story mode, Capcom is basically giving players a chance to try out the DLC fighters sooner than anticipated, although the developer cautions that they are not tournament-ready and are still subject to change. There are also tweaks on the in-game currency system, which can be read here.

Meanwhile, according to Event Hubs, the "Street Fighter 5" DLC after Ibuki might be Juri. Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono hinted this in a new interview (in Korean). "Korean character Juri will be announced later so please watch out for that," Ono said as per translations by Kelvin Jeon from NorCal's.
