'The Sims 4' rumors: EA planning to bring game to next-gen consoles?

"The Sims" fans who are console gamers are starting to worry that "The Sims 4" will not be released to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 anytime soon.
According to the latest reports, developer Electronic Arts is opting against the console release of "The Sims 4" even though it was previously rumored that the studio has started porting the game.
It is being suggested that EA will just focus on "The Sims 5" instead. For this game, EA will reportedly focus on bringing the game effectively to the current-generation consoles.
EA is allegedly giving up on the console launch for "The Sims 4" as the game did not do well in the personal computer (PC) and that fans continue to patronize its predecessor.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that EA has simply chosen to wait for the release of the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
The former is releasing the PlayStation Neo while the latter is dropping the Xbox One Project Scorpio next year, and a slim version of its current console dubbed Xbox One S is landing on Aug. 2.
Instead of bringing "The Sims 4" to the Xbox One and PS4, EA purportedly considered putting off the console launch to accommodate these new console releases.
Furthermore, EA supposedly plans to take advantage of the Virtual Reality (VR) support that these new consoles will offer when they are released.
If this is the case, gamers will have to wait a long while since the next-generation consoles are not expected to be ready until next year.
Meanwhile, it is also being reported that the reason "The Sims 4" is not out for consoles yet is because EA chose to focus on bringing out the expansion packs for the game first.
The studio has released the latest stuff pack called Backyard Stuff and is preparing to drop more this fall. It appears as though EA has been spending its time working on "The Sims 4" downloadable content (DLC) rather than porting the game to consoles.
