'Underworld: Blood Wars' release date, latest updates: New trailer reveals more details on storyline
"Underworld: Blood Wars" is one of the most anticipated sequels that will soon be arriving in cinemas. It will star Kate Beckinsale once again as Selene, as she battles her opponents. The sequel is the fifth entry in the "Underworld" franchise.
The latest promotional video for the upcoming film features a lot of new footage that gives more details about the plot. Gamespot reported that Selene has gained a new set of abilities in order to take down members of the Lycan and the Vampire races.
She will face off with a new opponent, Marius, played by actor Tobias Menzies. The main antagonist of the upcoming film is after the blood of Selene in order to make his clan indestructible and stronger. Fans may be familiar with the actor's roles in the television series, "Game of Thrones" and "Outlander."
A familiar face will also be returning to the franchise to support Selene: David (Theo James). Theo James has been known for his roles in the "Divergent" film series. Meanwhile, other actors that are also joining the cast are Charles Dance and Lara Pulver.
Selene would still be a Vampire warrior in the upcoming film, but it seems that she does not share any affiliations between the two warring clans. With her past experience with different antagonists, Selene has grown much stronger, but she has yet again to overcome another challenge. The stakes are also high since both clans are after her and this will only prove that their battles will be bloodier. Selene can't also trust her own clan since she is being continually betrayed by them.
"Underworld: Blood Wars" has recently wrapped up its filming in Europe. The film is set to be released in cinemas on Jan. 6, 2017.
