'Winds of Winter' release date news 2016: Launch likely in early 2017, George R.R. Martin takes advice from Stephen King
Bestselling "Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin admits he is a slow writer, which is why "Winds of Winter" is still not out. This is also the reason he is so impressed with Stephen King.

During King's tour for his latest book "End of Watch," which happens to be the 55th novel released by the master of horror storytelling, Martin popped by for a conversation that led to writing speeds.
"How the f— do you write so fast? I have a good six months and crank out three chapters, meanwhile you wrote three books in that time," Martin asked.
King revealed that he always makes sure he churns out six pages every day, which the "Winds of Winter" author seemed to find difficult to keep up.
"You always get six pages? You never get constipated? You never get up and go get the mail, and think 'Maybe I don't have any talent and should have been a plumber,'" Martin then quipped.
Martin was supposed to have "Winds of Winter" published before "Game of Thrones" season 6 premieres. However, the season is already down to its finale.
The title of the episode is "Winds of Winter," which hints that the "Game of Thrones" season 6 finale might have some huge spoilers in the upcoming book of the same name.
Martin did not plan to be overtaken by the show, and has reiterated that he is disappointed he missed a lot of deadlines for "Winds of Winter."
At the moment, there's no release date set for the novel. There's no concrete information on how far along Martin is in the book or how many pages are left to be filled.
According to reports, "Winds of Winter" might be ready around early next year. However, the final word will still come from Martin so fans will still have to hold on and wait.
